How many calories in a veggie burger?

You can't generalise, it depends what they put in them. See the article below.

Are you eating veggie food because you're on a diet then?

My husband decided to go vegetarian. After buying a load of 'healthy' veggie items, I examined the contents and told him it was probably a quick way to a heart attack. It's astonishing how much fat and salt they put in this kind of food. I guess it's to make up for lack of flavour! They use cheese in a lot of veggie things for flavour, but that's just all fat.

Once in a while is all right, but I'd look closely at the breakdown of what you buy when in a shop if you're changing you diet.

Quote from article:

Burger King's bean burger may sound nutritious, but it is deep-fried and smothered with cheese, and it contains 506 calories and 20g of fat.

Compared this with the 270 calories and 10g of fat in a regular hamburger and all meat-eaters can breathe a sigh of relief.

"Although vegetarian foods contain healthy ingredients like beans, pulses and vegetables, it is the process used to create them that often makes them diet disasters," says Amanda.

"Often manufacturers will add fat to create flavour in bland foods and fat is used to bind veggie patties together to help them to cook properly."
